Kalshi vs Polymarket: what's actually different
Kalshi operates as a CFTC-regulated exchange settled in US dollars, while Polymarket settles on-chain in stablecoins and is not available to US retail users. Both list overlapping event contracts on things like elections, macro data releases, and weather.
Because the two platforms draw from different user bases, price gaps between them often reflect differences in liquidity and settlement rather than genuine disagreement about the underlying odds. A market with heavy volume on Polymarket but thin volume on Kalshi's equivalent contract can show a meaningfully different price even when both are pricing the same real-world event.
A practical rule of thumb
Treat the more liquid venue's price as the reference point, and treat a lagging price on the thinner venue as an opportunity to double-check rather than as a contradiction that needs resolving.
